Breast Cancer Malpractice
Malpractice involving breast cancer typically involves a failure to diagnose or a failure to treat. Unfortunately, women who develop breast cancer that goes undetected by their doctor for a significant period of time, have a much-reduced chance of survival. Such delays in diagnosing breast cancer usually occur in women under 50 years of age as doctors negligently assume that women under 50 do not have a significant chance of developing breast cancer.

Some common forms of breast cancer malpractice include:

  • Failure to order or evaluate mammograms properly
  • Misdiagnosis of a malignant lump as fibrocystic disease
  • Failure to perform a breast exam or find a lump during an exam
  • Failure to order a biopsy of a lump
  • Failure to monitor and follow-up abnormal mammograms or ultrasounds
  • Failure to properly diagnose a lump resulting in unnecessary surgery or treatment

Rosenbaum Faria offers free initial consultations and an expert review of your treatment and medical records to assist you in determining whether you or your loved one have been the victim of breast cancer malpractice.

Breast Cancer Risk Higher in City Dwellers
A new study by UK researchers suggests that women who live in cities and urban areas are at greater risk from breast cancer because they tend to have denser breasts.

The study is the work of Dr Nicholas M. Perry, director of The London Breast Institute at The Princess Grace Hospital in London, and colleagues, and was presented yesterday, Monday 26th November, at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), which is being held in Chicago this week. more...

Racial and Cultural Differences in Breast Cancer Treatment
Scientists at the Science of Cancer Health Disparities conference came together in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, this week to address the question, how do social disadvantages, genetics, race and culture contribute to the health disparities observed in many groups of men and women, as for example, in breast cancer treatment?

One of the studies presented was by co-researcher, Jane T. Pham, an epidemiologist at the Northern California Cancer Center (NCCC), Fremont, California, and doctoral candidate in epidemiology at the University of California, Davis, and was titled "Physician perspectives on surgical treatment disparities among Asian women with early stage breast cancer" more...
